Storytelling
Systems-minded operations professional who designs, builds, and runs the technology that keeps a nonprofit functioning: Power Platform apps, Dataverse architecture, grant reporting, donor systems, employee handbooks. The same person who writes the JavaScript also writes the SOP.
Experience
& Background
Eleven years spanning nonprofit operations, community-facing coordination, and self-taught enterprise development; all reinforcing the same instinct: if the system is broken, build a better one.
- Sole systems developer, operations administrator, and Privacy Officer for a nonprofit operating two shelters on a 24/365 schedule.
- Built enterprise-grade Power Platform environment from scratch: 21+ JavaScript web resources, Model-Driven and Canvas apps, Dataverse with field-level security.
- Migrated 483+ Stripe payout records with a 4-tier matching algorithm; achieved 89.7% auto-match and eliminated manual reconciliation.
- Authored the organization's Operations Manual and Employee Handbook from scratch.
- Secured and managed an $80,000 Atrium Health Floyd-Polk Foundation grant including mid-year impact reporting.
- Developed a custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) server in Python for AI-assisted operations workflows.
- Operated the community resource line, intaking high volumes of crisis calls and matching residents to services.
- Built and maintained the organization-information database used to track community service gaps and need trends.
- Presented trend findings to partner organizations to inform their programming decisions.
- Planned and produced the Chamber's annual Business Expo, a multi-day event with 100-booth floor and networking program.
- Managed Leadership Rome and High School Leadership Rome, coordinating curriculum, speakers, and logistics.
- Developed a new Diversity & Inclusion strategic plan for the Chamber's programming.
- Managed front-desk operations: phones, mail, member records, and walk-in information requests.
- Processed deposits and tracked financial records; connected community members with resources and demographic data.
- Managed daily operations and performance for up to 16 customer service agents.
- Delivered coaching and performance feedback; trained agents on frequent program updates.
Selected Work
A mix of public-facing design, internal systems I built from scratch, brand work, and long-form writing. Some projects live online; others live behind the login of a 24/365 shelter operation, so they're described rather than shown.
Development Projects
// 04Enterprise-grade systems built as sole developer: Dataverse architecture, Power Platform apps, custom integrations, and AI tooling.
Web Design
// 01Full redesign of The Davies Shelters' public website; built from the ground up to balance mission storytelling, accessible resource navigation, and donor trust-building. Seventeen pages total across three information architectures.
A scalable category system; each page follows a consistent template that makes it easy to add, update, or reorganize resources without redesign. Four representative pages shown below.
Brand Identity
// 03Visual identity work: logo systems, brand standards, and sub-brand development that holds up across print, web, and social.
Social Media / Creative
// 03Content designed for nonprofit, political, and community-organization clients: mission storytelling, donor appeals, event promotion, and community engagement across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Ongoing social media management for a two-shelter nonprofit, including the Sacred Worth / Restorative Journey / Welcome Community mission pillars, program highlights, and donor appeals.
Campaign social media for a local city commissioner race; designed across two election cycles. Won the 2020 race, ran again in 2024.
Social content for a regional minority business advocacy organization. Former board member; now consulting on communications.
Operations & Writing
// 02Long-form documentation built from scratch as a one-person operations department: policy frameworks, procedural standards, and the institutional knowledge that keeps a 24/365 shelter running. These are full documents, not summaries.
Data Annotation Projects
// 05Contributions to AI training datasets and evaluation work.
